JuJu announces European tour & shares video for ‘In A Ghetto’ feat Capra Informis of GOAT

Back in September last year, Sicilian multi-instrumentalist JuJu – the pseudonym of Gioele Valenti (Lay Llamas, Herself) – released his sophomore album ‘Our Mother Was A Plant’. An immersive, utterly hypnotic fusion of psych-rock and kraut via afrobeat and funk, the album saw JuJu push boundaries once again and, just like his debut, end up being widely cited as one of the most innovative and genuinely refreshing psych-rock albums in years.

After a run of festival appearances towards the end of last year, JuJu has now announced a full European tour in support of the new record – the dates of which can be found below. To coincide with the announcement, he is sharing a brand new video for the incredible ‘In A Ghetto’, which features guest percussion from Capra Informis, the djembe player of Swedish psych-rock aficionados Goat. The video was made by Rickard Daun of Flowers Must Die, and you can give his entrancing and mind-bending visuals a watch here:

‘In A Ghetto’ matches the kinetic rhythms of Future Days-era Can with head-heavy psychedelic guitars and hypnotic chanting vocals, whilst Capra Informis’ tribal percussion propels it into a more afrobeat/funk territory with the occasional Eastern-sounding horns thrown in here and there, all before ending on a mind-blowing Madchester-esque finale. The track is emblematic of the many sides to JuJu, perfectly capturing the countless nuances of his simply otherworldly sound.

If you’re ready to witness a whole new side to the music of JuJu, and experience his innovative sound in a live setting, then catch him near you on one of the 20 dates on this huge upcoming European tour:
