Helicon share new single and video 'Tae The Moon'
Following the BBC 6 Music-supported singles ‘Flume’ and ‘Disobey’, Glasgow outfit Helicon are unleashing their new single ‘Tae The Moon’, a full-throttle eight minute psych-rock wig-out lifted from their incoming ‘God Intentions’ LP. Due out April 28th on Fuzz Club, Helicon’s third studio album is their most ambitious album to date – the band bringing a group of collaborators into the fold for the first time. Out today, you can stream the single and its suitably trippy video below and pre-prder the LP here.
Talking about ‘Tae The Moon’, guitarist/vocalist John-Paul Hughes says: "'Tae The Moon' has been the big closer of our live set and a crowd favourite for years. After shows, people ask "What album is that on? Where can I get this on vinyl?". But they couldn't. Until now. An early version of the tune appeared on our limited editon 'Gehenna' EP in 2015 (on EXAG Records, Belgium) but it has evolved a lot since then. It's a proper, cosmic, psych rock freak out voyage for the ages."
Arriving off the back of their 2020 ‘This Can Only Lead To Chaos’ album, ‘God Intentions’ was recorded at Dystopia, Glasgow with producers Luigi Pasquini and Jason Shaw, mastered by RIDE’s Mark Gardener and includes contributions from the Rhona MacFarlane String Quartet, Lavinia Blackwall (Trembling Bells), Mark O’Donnell (Tomorrow Syndicate), Sotho Houle (French avant-garde violinist) and Anna McCracken.
Helicon have also announced an album release show at Glasgow’s Stereo on May 27. They’ll be performing ‘God Intentions’ in its entirety alongside special guests Rhona MacFarlane String Quartet, Mark O’Donnell, Anna McCracken and more. There will also be DJ sets from Chris Geddes (Belle & Sebastian) and Holly Calder (Freakender) Tickets are on sale here: helicon.lnk.to/tickets
