Black Doldrums share new single 'Echoes' from incoming album 'Repetition Compulsion' out Nov 13th
@blackdoldrums share ‘Echoes’, the fourth preview of their forthcoming album ‘Repetition Compulsion’, out November 13th 2026 via Fuzz Club Pre-order on limited LP and CD in the Fuzz Club Stores.
“This track was finally completed while touring and playing a show in Belgrade, Serbia, where the city’s warmth, creativity and discussions about local history inspired the song’s lyrics. Our time spent there won’t be forgotten. It’s one of those special moments and opportunities you wouldn’t have got if we weren’t in a band. I’ve never written a song whilst on tour before. Realistically, it never happens, but this one came out in one go, sat in the van..”
Drawing inspiration from 80s gothic post-punk, synth-pop and darkwave, alongside the atmospheric film scores of John Carpenter and Vangelis, the London trio build on the emotional and sonic foundations of these influences to create something cinematic, modern and unmistakably their own. Every song on ‘Repetition Compulsion’ has been crafted with intention, balancing darkness with beauty to create an intensely personal listening experience rich in melody, atmosphere and emotional depth.
Layers of analogue synths, chorus-soaked guitars and driving rhythms frame songs that are intimate, immersive and emotionally precise, while the album’s expansive production gives each composition a striking sense of scale. Rather than relying on nostalgia, ‘Repetition Compulsion’ presents post-punk as a living, evolving form, embracing atmosphere without sacrificing melody, introspection without losing momentum, and darkness without abandoning hope.
