Liverpool four-piece YOBS sign to Fuzz Club and drop debut single and video ‘Fortune Teller’
We're stoked to announce Liverpool four-piece YOBS have signed to Fuzz Club and are today dropping their explosive debut single and video, ‘Fortune Teller’. Released alongside the B-side track ‘Cemetery Man’, YOBS are here to ring in Halloween with two slabs of scuzzy, hedonistic garage-punk that each race by under two minutes. You can stream the singles here
Emerging out of the rubble of the now-defunct Liverpool bands Weird Sex (Roadkill Records) and Ohmns, YOBS was kick-started last year and is made up of Joey Ackland (Vocals), Alex Smith (Bass/Vocals), Michael Quinlan (Guitar/Vocals) and George Gebbie (Drums).
Their debut release arrives off the back of a 2023 spent playing rowdy, ear-ringing shows with the likes of A Place To Bury Strangers, Mark Sultan, C.O.F.F.I.N, Alien Nosejob and more. During that time they’ve also been busy writing and recording their debut album, slated for release next year, and these two tracks are an exhilarating preview of what’s to come.
Talking about the single, YOBS’ Alex Smith said: “Fortune Teller is the firestarter you've been waiting for. Be prepared for a roller-coaster of high-energy riffs and pounding drums. As with most of our songs, Fortune Teller came from a bit of a warm up before practice. Usually the songs come together in between practicing the set and so they always feel quite natural to us. We know we're onto something when Joey puts the pieces together with his wild man vocals (Yobs 5th instrument).”
