MADMADMAD share new AA-Side 'Do You / Shambles'

MADMADMAD share new AA-Side 'Do You' b/w 'Shambles'

London post-punk electronic crew MADMADMAD return today with a brand new double A-side single 'Do You' b/w 'Shambles', out now via Bad Vibrations. Watch the 'Do You' video below and stream the EP here

The new tracks - the first from the trio since their second album, 2020's More More More - come ahead of a busy spring and summer for the band on the live circuit, with a headline UK run this month followed by festival dates including Wide Awake, WOMAD, End of the Road, Manchester Psych Fest and more.

Once again recorded in the band's experimental warehouse lab, the two tracks show contrasting sides of the trio: while 'Do You' locks into a hypnotic groove before coming to life with cascading synths that beckon you to the dancefloor, 'Shambles' fizzes with a combustible energy that threatens to explode at a moment's notice, all syncopated, fidgety beats and propulsive basslines. What courses through both tracks, though, is a sense of mischief and playfulness exuded in every note MADMADMAD lay to tape and that's bound to be present in abundance across their summer dates.

Of 'Do You', the band offer: "It's about being yourself without asking permission. It's a hypnotic, dance floor-ready anthem that makes you want to let the goof out, in a playful invitation to dance your troubles away, like Archie Bell beaming from darker space. A deranged sonic ride with an irresistible feel-good factor."

Shaped by the mutant sounds of '70s no-wave, post-punk and disco, MADMADMAD - comprised of Benji, Kevin and Matt - rocket their influences into a new dimension. Their unique sound seeks deliverance from the chaotic and strange times we are now living through, infused by the band’s alien live party set, oozing dance bass lines, spiky guitars riffs and fizzing drums.

The band's two albums to date - 2019's Proper Music and 2020's More More More - have seen them championed at radio by the likes of Ana Matronic on BBC Radio2, Erol Alkan and Gilles Peterson on BBC 6Music, performing live for Worldwide FM, recording killer sessions for KEXP and Boiler Room (up here), and heading out on tour across Europe last year with Roisin Murphy.
