New Music: Baby Cool - Sky

Baby Cool share's video for new daydreamy cut 'Sky' out everywhere now!

Australian psych-pop artist Baby Cool (aka Grace Cuell of Nice Biscuit) is today releasing ‘Sky’, the second taste of her incoming sophomore album ‘Infinity Baby’, out June 5th via Bad Vibrations in Europe and Greenwary Records in the US. You can pre-order here

Out everywhere today, ‘Sky’ is an expansive, daydreamy cut inspiring feelings of both hope and melancholic acceptance. Soft percussion and jangly guitars carry listeners on a journey through Cuell’s quest for self discovery.

Baby Cool muses,“I am still getting to know the parts of my emotional self that keep me guarded. This song is about learning to live with those shadows and accepting that they are as much a part of me as the skin on my body. There’s something in this acceptance that has helped me become more aware of my vulnerabilities and less reactive over the years. Like everything else, this is an ongoing process–until probably forever.”

Also released today is a full length music video for ‘Sky’ which you can watch here.

Filmed at the Eltham Hotel in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, the clip has a tenderness that echoes the themes of the song. “The pub is the heartbeat of the music scene in our local area and the owners Matt and Luke have worked hard to create a community around everything they do there and have been endlessly supportive of my music. Local filmmaker Dom Sullivan directed and shot the clip, and we had a lovely time galavanting around the pub after hours. Dom had a strong vision for this song so I let him run with it– and the result was really special.”

Where her debut body of work Earthling on the Road to Self Love felt almost whimsical in its search for meaning, upcoming album Infinity Baby is more grounded and honest. The songs move through desire, cynicism, devotion and surrender, sometimes defeat, but always circle back to a kind of hope. It’s a record about patterns: the ones we inherit, the ones we repeat, and the ones we choose to keep.
