Following on from their incredible show at the Fuzz Club Festival, we're super excited to announce that Upupayāma have signed to Fuzz Club with a new record coming very soon
Upupayāma is the musical persona of Alessio Ferrari, an Italian multi-instrumentalist and songwriter who lives in a small mountain village above the city of Parma. Organic psychedelia at its finest, Upupayāma’s music is firmly rooted in Eastern and Western folk traditions but taps into a far broader palette – there are hues of Anatolian rock, Italian library music, '70s krautrock and even stoner/doom, all added seamlessly into the mix.
In addition to playing guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums across all the recordings, Ferrari also incorporates a number of other instruments into his sound, including sitar, erhu, flute, and a variety of percussion. Live on stage, the six-piece band take a more improvisation-based approach which finds the songs ever-evolving. The new record is set to arrive in September this year and will follow the sublime 2022 LP 'The Golden Pond' and 2020's self-titled debut EP.
