Night Beats drop single 'Blue' ahead of sixth album 'Rajan'

Night Beats drop single 'Blue' ahead of the release of sixth studio album 'Rajan' this week

Ahead of the release of new album ‘Rajan’ this week, Night Beats are today dropping the new single ‘Blue’. A piece of hazy psychedelic soul, it follows recent singles ‘Hot Ghee’, ‘Thank You’ and ‘Nightmare’ and is the final preview of the incoming record from LA-based artist Danny Lee Blackwell. ‘Rajan’, Blackwell’s sixth Night Beats studio album, is out Friday July 14th via Fuzz Club and Suicide Squeeze. You can stream ‘Blue’ here

“I struggle describing my process because most of it is just doing, or not doing. For “Blue” it came together when I added the bassline and west coast whistle sound, I wanted it to ride, and it took me along. Finding the words is a process of surrender, sometimes desperation, bliss or fear. I become the song, to tell it. I’ve lost and found my mind through gospel music, Ethiopiques, Lauren Hill, Patsy Cline and Tony Allen drumming. I only know what works for me, and let rhythm and harmony be my guide.
