Based between Berlin and Brussels, Golden Hours are Hákon Aõalsteinsson (lead guitar/vocals), Wim Janssens (bass/vocals/production), Tobias Humble (drums) and Rodrigo Fuentealba Palavacino (lead guitar) – a cast of seasoned players who between them have taken to stages and studios as part of Gang Of Four, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Tricky, The Fuzztones and more. First rumbling out of the shadows in 2023 with their self-titled debut, the band are back once again with their second outing.
Still sounding like a thunderous post-punk avalanche or a well-aimed punch in the gut, ‘Beyond Wires’ was knit together in-between the tours and other obligations of its four members, written and recorded in rehearsal rooms in Berlin and an old mansion in Brussels bleeding noisy electric static into every song. But a band like Golden Hours never shies away from these things: they lean into it and welcome those ghostly appearances with open arms, out-fuzzing the buzz with layers of twin-guitar noise, equally tight and rumbling rhythm sections and strong melodic elements that cut through like a knife.
“A deep, brooding record full of intensity and at its best is utterly transfixing.” God Is In The TV
“Golden Hours channel the immediacy of post punk into a roaring descent, tangled in themes of alienation and emotional fallout.” Darkenin Heart
“A ride through melancholy, distortion and raw emotional power.” Happy Mag
“A lush evocative masterpiece… a truly heroic album.” Eyeplug
