The Gluts share new single and video 'Mashilla'

New single lifted from the forthcoming 'Ungrateful Heart' LP, due out October 8th on Fuzz Club

Milan-based group The Gluts are today sharing their new single and video ‘Mashilla’, the second to be lifted from their forthcoming ‘Ungrateful Heart’ LP that’s due out October 8th on Fuzz Club. Whilst their previous releases traded in explosive psychedelic noise, ‘Ungrateful Heart’ sees the Italian four-piece hone in on a sound rooted more in classic 70s punk and 80s hardcore. New single and album-opener ‘Mashilla’ – a barbed noise-rock onslaught that journeys from ferocious to hypnotic and back again – proves that the core of the band’s sound still remains, though. The video is available to stream below and you can pre-order the album on vinyl here.

The Gluts say that ‘Ungrateful Heart’ primarily take cues from the likes of Fugazi, Gang of Four, the PiL-Pistols canon and the Campana brothers’ long adoration of Italian and American hardcore punk. Laid down over a tireless week living side by side and working in the studio around the clock, they recorded the album with Dutch producer and close collaborator Bob de Wit (A Place To Bury Strangers, Gnod, The Sonics). On the sessions, the intensity of which is mirrored in the fierce uncompromising attitude of the music itself, the band said: “Bob’s contribution to this album was essential. He pushed us beyond our limits. It was difficult, we can’t hide it, but it really was worth it.”

In support of ‘Ungrateful Heart’, the band will be touring Europe this October. Having picked up a notorious reputation for their powerful, tinnitus-inducing live shows in the years since their 2013 formation, The Gluts have previously toured around the UK, Europe and South Africa and performed at a number of international festivals, including Eurosonic (NL), Fuzz Club Eindhoven (NL), Label Mates (UK), MiAMI Festival (IT) and Endless Daze (ZA). ‘Ungrateful Heart’ arrives following their 2019 LP ‘Dengue Fever Hypnotic Trip’.
