Warm Graves share new single/video 'Owe (The Others)' ahead of upcoming dates
Leipzig, Germany based producer and composer Warm Graves (real name Jonas Wehner) is dropping his new single ‘Owe (The Others)’ today via Fuzz Club. Arriving following last year’s ‘Ease’ double album, the track is a dark, hazy synthwave cut released in support of upcoming Germany/Poland shows with French ‘80s New Wave legends Martin Dupont and Berlin artist Jennifer Touch (the latter also helming mixing duties on the new single.) On ‘Owe (The Others)’, which sees retro-futurist synth lines set against a minimal drum machine beat and Wehner’s melancholy vocal, he says: "I don’t wanna give away too much about this song, but one aspect it is dealing with is leaving your comfort zone and taking risks in order to evolve - no matter what the outcome might be."
Wehner began the Warm Graves project in 2012 and entered officially with his epic 2014 debut ‘Ships Will Come’. Following a period of international touring in support, the project would mysteriously go underground a couple of years later, only to return out of the shadows in 2022 with their second album ‘Ease’. This seven-year gestation between the two albums brought with it a transformation in the creative process of Warm Graves, much like the human body exchanges its cells every seven years.
Where ‘Ships Will Come’ dealt in ethereal, dream-like atmospherics guided by an operatic choir, the ‘Ease’ double LP was a collection of harsher, more experimental electronic works touching on ambient drone, austere coldwave and synthesized kosmische musik. Following suit, ‘Owe (The Others)’ dives deeper into this more shadowy and introspective side to Warm Graves.Over the years, and in between headline tours of their own, Warm Graves has gone on to tour with the likes of Exploded View, Anika, Lebanon Hanover and Moon Duo, and appeared at a number of festivals including The Great Escape, ATP, Iceland Airwaves, Roskilde, Fusion Festival, FEST Festival, Synästhesie and more.
