Upupayāma announce third album, 'Mount Elephant', due out September 13th. Lead single 'Moon Needs The Owl Pt. 1' out now
Upupayāma, the moniker of Italian multi-instrumentalist Alessio Ferarri, is today announcing his third album, 'Mount Elephant', and first on Fuzz Club. Due out September 13th, you can watch the visualiser the lead single 'Moon Needs The Owl Pt. 1' now and pre-order limited edition vinyl here
Rooted in the “joy and rhythms” of Eastern music, 'Mount Elephant' finds inspiration in traditional Bhutanese music, Thai disco and Anatolian psych, by way of lysergic acid-folk, ‘70s kosmische and stoner-rock. Organic psychedelia at its finest, this is music rooted in one of the most precious luxuries of our time: doing things slowly. Drifting and pastoral as ever, there are also more rhythmic, danceable moments here and full-blown fuzz wig-outs to boot.
On ‘Moon Needs The Owl’ – the first part of which is out today – Ferrari says: “This song is set in a Thai disco in the 70s with all these people smashing things (I recorded myself smashing empty wine bottles), messing around having fun and laughing. And then in part two the night gives way to dawn and everyone walks home.”
Pre-order 'Mount Elephant' now on 180g gold nugget vinyl, limited to /500 hand-numbered copies and available exclusively from the Fuzz Club stores/membership. Also available on 140g white marble vinyl.
